Project Title
Routing in WDM Optical Networks

Brief Description for General Publications
The Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technique is a promising candidate for traffic intensive, high bandwidth, multimedia communications for next generation Internet. As typical connections require only sub-wavelength bandwidth capacities, the concept of traffic grooming has been proposed. Traffic grooming involves multiplexing multiple low-speed connection requests onto a single high-capacity wavelength. Our research aims at designing efficient traffic grooming algorithms for establishing unicast and multicast communications.
